Why is a 10 Day Challenge Important for Total Body Health?

Some of you have done the Challenge with me before. If not, or if you've forgotten the details I wanted to explain why we do it. First off, it is not a diet. We are eating clean for 10 days to boost our confidence into making life style changes for the long run.

Years ago I went to an Anthony Robbins seminar( yes, I walked across burning hot coals...but that's another story) and he presented an eating challenge that he had developed with Dr. Andrew Weil. It got me thinking more about how we use food as the fuel we put into our bodies and how that energy affects our performance. You don't have to be an Olympian to appreciate feeling good and having more than enough energy not only to get through the day but to feel pretty darn good through that day.

What to Expect? Here are your Guidelines

  1. Time:  Eat breakfast with in first hour of waking, eat every 4 hours, nothing after 630 pm.

  2. Limit caffeine intake to 1 cup a day, drink at least 3 cups of green tea a day, water!!!  Nothing else.  No soda, no juice, nothing else.

  3. No processed food, only fresh fruits, veggies (frozen is ok if that's all you have), meats, etc... that means no  bars except RXBars, boxed food, anything that has been changed from its normal state.  Refined sugar counts here!

  4. Go Organic!  I know, I know...  It’s harder and more expensive but at least try to use organic when you’re having a fruit or veggie with thin skin.

  5. Nothing that has high fructose corn syrup, no hydrogenated oils, no food additives,  food coloring, etc...In other words, NO CRAP!

  6. Exercise everyday for next 10 days for at least 30 minutes.

  7. Spend 5 minutes every day with no noise.  TV, music, kids, dog, phone, etc... That means NOTHING.

  8. Food combining:  Try to get protein, good carbohydrates and good fat with every snack and meal, i.e., apple and slice of "real" cheese, handful of almonds and grapes, salad with grilled chicken, oatmeal with walnuts.  If you’re not sure what “good” means, just ask.

Good luck!!
